The Name

We are a group of close friends and physicians who are passionate about locums work. For all of us at Caladria, locums work is not about giving the bare minimum and flying home.

Every locums assignment is an opportunity for us to showcase our passions for excellent patient care, collegial working environments, and the practice of emergency medicine. Working locums side by side with friends we know and love helps us keep those passions front and center.

Our name comes from the mythical ancient Roman bird of healing, the Caladrius. One of our founders is a huge Greek and Roman history enthusiast, and we all love birds, healing, and supporting the niche interests of our friends. Hence, Caladria.

The Mission

The Founder

Dr. Johnothan Smileye is an emergency medicine physician from Boston MA, who completed his postgraduate medical training at Penn and Harvard. He is the glue that brings this group of friends together, a group that first bonded over good food, great chat, and above all, a sense of camaraderie born from working side-by-side on the front lines of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The Friends

We’ve been lucky to be rich in friendship, and our group of locums friends has grown from a core of four to a group that includes over 35 physicians and allied health professionals.
